So the next morning we set off for Mt Cook, another hour and half from Tekapo, but 21’c and sunny it was a good drive into the mountains.
The drive led us around Lake Pukaki, and the then swept towards Mt Cook. This may look familiar as it was the location of Lake town in the hobbit, and Mt Cook was the ‘Lonely Mountain’.
As the mountain got closer the view got even better with the encroaching mountain.
Then a hike up to view the Tasman Glacier and Mt Cook. It was slightly more challenging than normal as they were half way through some improvement meaning it resembled an obstacle course of wooden boxes over large rocks.
